Tonight's cook
The better half's birthday dinner. Cherry stone clams steamed in bacon, garlic and white wine(not pictured) for an appetizer. Bacon wrapped filet and snow crab legs with roasted potatoes. Grass fed ribeye for me. Still not the best food picture taker but hey, it tasted good and the wife was happy. Rubbed the steaks with olive oil and fresh black pepper, then a light drizzle of real balsamic vinegar. I wanted to try a reverse sear but went with the trex method.

In Photobucket, copy the Direct Link tag and paste it in the Insert Image address box. The insert image button is on your tool bar and it looks like a photo. The Direct Link tag will look like this: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/caz1604/IMG_1032.jpgJust a hack that makes some $hitty BBQ....

Awesome looking meal! For real, next time try it without the oil.Instead, make some garlic and chive butter balls and place one on each piece of meat during resting. You can add all your pics to one post, just rinse and repeat. Makes it much easier.Just a hack that makes some $hitty BBQ....

Just noticed you have at least four big chunks of wood in your firebox. For a cook this small, one would be more than suffice.Just a hack that makes some $hitty BBQ....

I will try it without the oil next time. I also like to make black pepper butter balls and usually have some but went with straight butter this time. Still working on taking food pictures and I know I'll never be as good as some here but the discussion from one of my previous threads(good pics or good food) has inspired me to try to become a better food picture taker!
Thanks again! -
Yeah, I put them on at the last second. I forgot to put any on earlier and had to actually take my steaks off and put them in. As soon as I threw them all in I thought "dang, that's not even gonna give me any flavor!" I'm the only cook in the house and when I'm trying to cook steaks, clams, crab legs, potatoes, shrimp for my daughter and have everything done at the same time so it's all served hot, things get a little hectic! I need like three more eggs so I can cook everything outside and don't have to keep running back into the house!

That's how I convinced my wife I needed a 2nd egg. Good luck!Just a hack that makes some $hitty BBQ....

Good job Hashmaker! As long as your wife loved your food, all is right with the world. My wife loved food off the egg so much she never complained when they kept showing up on the deck.
Our mini is not pictured.
